Short Biography

Dr. Yin Myo Thu is working as a Pro Rector of the Yangon University of Foreign Languages starting on 19 June 2018. She earned her first degree specializing in International Relations in 1991 and master degree in 1997. Under the visiting research fellow program between Myanmar and Japan, she won the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs scholarship to complete some portions of Ph.D dissertation at the Japan’s Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) in 2002 under the supervision of Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar H.E Shigeru TSRMORI. She received Ph D Degree in 2004 emphasizing in the field of study on International Organization with particular focus on the United Nations Development Programme. The World Bank and International Monetary Fund are also the major focus study area in her research. In 2013, she also won the Scholarship Programme offered by the US States Department to study American Political Development (APD) at the Massachusetts University (Amherst) under the program of Study in United States for International Scholars (SUSIs 2013). She did numbers of research not only on International Relations discipline but also on Political Science such as Myanmar political development, efforts and effects of peace process in Myanmar, national security in the Rakhine State and gender emancipation in Myanmar society. She is the eight-time Best Paper Award Winner for International Relations subject awarded by the Myanmar Academy of Arts and Science (MAAS) from 2003 to 2019. She served as tutor at the Department of International Relations, Dagon University in 1995. She was transferred to the University of Yangon to attend the Ph D Preliminary Classes in 1999. She is now working as administrator at the Yangon University of Foreign Languages in Academic Affairs. She is the Deputy Chair of the Administrative Board and of the University’s Senate of YUFL. She is also a member of Myanmar Institute of Strategic and International Studies (MISIS) of Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2016.
